Roles and Responsibilities of a Business Development Executive / Manager (Construction Industry)
1. Identifying New Business Opportunities
Research upcoming construction projects, government tenders, and private developments.
Identify potential clients such as developers, architects, consultants, and contractors.
Develop strategies to approach new clients and secure projects.
2. Client & Stakeholder Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, project consultants, and government authorities.
Attend client meetings, understand project requirements, and present company capabilities.
Ensure consistent communication and follow-up to maintain long-term partnerships.
3. Tendering & Bidding Support
Coordinate with the estimation and tender team to prepare proposals and quotations.
Review tender documents, pre-qualification requirements, and bid conditions.
Ensure timely submission of tenders and proposals as per client specifications.
4. Market Research & Competitor Analysis
Track market trends, competitor pricing, and new construction technologies.
Analyze potential markets for expansion (residential, commercial, industrial, infrastructure, etc.).
Provide management with insights to support business planning and decision-making.
5. Sales & Revenue Growth
Work towards achieving assigned business targets (project acquisition, revenue generation).
Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential projects and clients.
Negotiate and finalize business deals in coordination with senior management.
6. Coordination with Internal Teams
Liaise with the project, engineering, and finance departments for proposal inputs and clarifications.
Support the project handover process from business development to execution team after securing a project.
Ensure clear communication across departments for smooth client servicing.
7. Branding & Promotional Activities
Represent the company in industry exhibitions, trade fairs, and networking events.
Support marketing activities such as brochure development, website updates, and social media content.
Promote the companys achievements, completed projects, and strengths to attract new clients.
8. Reporting & Documentation
Maintain records of client interactions, project leads, and status updates.
Prepare weekly/monthly business development reports for management review.
Track tender submissions, follow-ups, and project acquisition performance.
