Required Skills & Experience

Experience in a similar BA / data testing / QA analytics role.

Technical skills:

• Solid SQL skills: able to write and adjust queries, connect to databases (Sybase, SQL Server), and validate query results.
• Advanced MS Excel user (e.g., complex formulas, lookups, pivots, data analysis).
• Hands-on Azure DevOps (ADO) experience: creating and managing work items, test cases, and test runs; organizing test evidence and sign-offs.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines sufficient to design appropriate testing strategies and sequence test execution across environments.

Testing / BA skills:

• Experience in test scripting, including defining test approach, test scenarios, and acceptance criteria.
• Proven ability to work with complex data models and schemas.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in a data context.
• Ability to translate business requirements into clear, testable conditions.

Soft skills:

• Strong analytical and structured thinking.
• High attention to detail and ownership over testing quality.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Some common Queries and its response

• Could you clarify what support means for the Data Pipeline Engineering team? Is it maybe creating test scripts, defining test strategy, or coordinating testing activities?

KV>  Yes, the expectation is that BA will come up with test scripts and run them to validate the changes made by Engineering.

• As this is a BA role , we expect the candidate to have at least basic DB and SQL skills. Is there anything particular we should know about in that area?

KV> They should be conversant in SQL syntaxes and have the ability to connect to databases (Sybase and SQL Server) and run queries and validate results

• What level of CI/CD pipeline involvement is expected? Just understanding the flow, or actually writing and running deployment or testing scripts in Azure DevOps?

KV> Understand enough of the flow to come up with proper testing strategy and test scripts. Independently execute test scripts in both source and target to validate results 

• For a candidate coming from a BA background with technical exposure, how much technical experience is required?

KV> We are expecting BA to have enough experience to connect to databases, run SQL queries and define testing strategies to validate the work done by Engineering. We dont expect BAs to do actual coding. BAs should be able to execute pipelines or snippets of code to complete the test  cases.
