Business Analyst Optical

About the Role

The Business Analyst- Optical is responsible for analysing business performance, optimizing optical operations, and supporting data-driven decision-making across the hospitals optical division. The role integrates clinical, retail, and financial insights to enhance profitability, process efficiency, and patient satisfaction.

Role Summary

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales & Revenue Analysis

• Track and report daily, weekly, and monthly optical sales performance.
• Analyze revenue mix by product, category, and store location.
• Identify sales patterns and growth opportunities through data insights.

2. Conversion & Patient Flow

• Measure prescription-to-purchase conversion ratios.
• Identify gaps between refraction and optical purchase stages.
• Recommend interventions to improve doctor referrals and patient engagement.

3. Profitability & Margin Analysis

• Monitor gross margin, cost per sale, and contribution by product type.
• Recommend pricing and promotional strategies based on performance.
• Support budgeting and cost control measures.

4. Inventory & Supply Chain Performance

• Evaluate stock movement, reorder patterns, and slow-moving inventory.
• Maintain optimal stock levels to ensure >90% product availability.
• Collaborate with procurement for vendor performance review and demand forecasting.

5. Operational Process Improvement

• Analyze optical workflows from refraction to billing.
• Recommend process optimizations to reduce TAT (Turnaround Time).
• Track adherence to SOPs across optical units.

6. Reporting & Dashboards

• Develop and maintain Power BI / Excel dashboards for leadership review.
• Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of MIS reports.
• Present insights during monthly review meetings.

7. Strategic & Market Insights

• Analyze patient feedback and competitive benchmarks.
• Support leadership with feasibility studies for new stores or service expansions.
• Provide analytical inputs for annual business planning and strategy reviews.

Preferred candidate profile

• Education: MBA / Masters in Business Analytics / Commerce / Optometry with Business specialization
• Experience: 4 to 8 years in Business Analysis within Optical / Eye Hospital / Healthcare Retail
• Technical Skills: Advanced Excel & Power BI (mandatory), SQL / Python knowledge (advantageous) & Familiarity with Hospital ERP / Optical POS systems
• Soft Skills: Analytical mindset with attention to detail, Excellent coordination with clinical and retail teams, Strong communication, reporting, and presentation skills.
