Design and Development of Medical Devices Creating Medical Equipment : Biomedical engineers design medical devices like pacemakers, artificial organs, imaging systems (MRI, CT), and diagnostic instruments. Prototyping and Testing : They develop prototypes of medical equipment and conduct rigorous tests to ensure reliability, safety, and functionality. 2. Maintenance and Calibration Maintenance of Medical Equipment : Ensuring that medical devices are well-maintained and function accurately. Calibration : Regular calibration of medical devices to meet required standards for precision and performance. 3. Research and Development Innovative Solutions : Conducting research to improve existing medical devices or develop new ones. Testing and Evaluating : Testing biomedical systems and devices in clinical environments to evaluate their performance and effectiveness. 4. Regulatory Compliance Adherence to Standards : Ensuring that biomedical devices comply with regulatory standards (FDA, ISO, etc.). Documentation and Reporting : Keeping detailed records of design, testing, and regulatory processes to ensure compliance with legal and safety standards. 5. Consulting and Training Healthcare Professional Support : Providing advice on the use of medical devices and equipment, and assisting healthcare providers with troubleshooting. Training : Teaching healthcare workers how to use new devices and ensuring they understand how to operate them safely. 6. Collaboration with Other Professionals Multidisciplinary Work : Working with doctors, scientists, and other engineers to ensure devices are optimized for patient care.
