🎯 Role Overview
A Big Data Tester ensures that huge datasets are correctly stored, processed, and transformed within data pipelines.
With AWS + SQL, the tester focuses on validating cloud-based big data systems and verifying data integrity using SQL queries.
📌 Key Skills
1. SQL Skills
Strong SQL (joins, aggregations, window functions, subqueries)
Data validation across source → staging → warehouse
Performance testing of queries on large datasets
2. AWS Cloud Skills
S3 → validate raw and processed data files
AWS Glue → test ETL jobs and transformations
Athena → run SQL queries directly on S3 data
Redshift → data warehouse validation
EMR → validate Spark/Hive jobs
Kinesis (if real-time) → test streaming data pipelines
CloudWatch → check logs and job failures
3. Testing Focus Areas
Functional Testing → ETL jobs, schema validation, transformations
Data Quality Testing → completeness, accuracy, duplicates, referential integrity
Performance Testing → query response times, batch job execution times
API Testing → REST APIs for ingestion using Postman/RestAssured
