BI Engineer

Duties / Day-to-Day Overview:

• Strategize, develop, and execute BI development methodologies on the companys Enterprise Data Warehouse and Big Data solutions.
• Educate and engage the BI development team through technical mentoring and coaching.
• Ensure adherence to extensible and scalable BI solution design and operational best practices.
• Ensure adherence, assurance, and review of BI unit testing.
• Drive process change, specifically around quality delivery, consistency, and maintainability of Enterprise BI solutions.
• Design and deliver automation frameworks for the companys Enterprise BI solutions.
• Provide thought leadership on long-term strategy planning and managing policy development to address complex business issues.
• Strategize around data governance, data quality, and automation frameworks to streamline processes.
• Drive process improvement initiatives to improve productivity.

Top Requirements (Must Haves):

• Experience in Business Intelligence Development with emphasis on data analytics and reporting.
  • 5+ years for Senior level
  • 3+ years for Mid-level
• Experience with Snowflake data sources and on-prem Oracle databases.
• Experience building AI agents on top of semantic models.
• Experience with MicroStrategy (MSTR) and Power BI development in a Cloud Data Warehouse environment required.
• Experience building new dashboards and aggregate tables.
• A sound understanding of BI best practices, relational structures, dimensional data modeling, structured query language (SQL) skills, data warehouse, and reporting techniques.
• Strong experience in SQL programming, Unix scripting, Python, and performance tuning is required.
• Familiarity with Azure data pipelines understanding how data flows through the system.
• Strong experience in Data Quality, Source Systems Analysis, and Business Rules Validation.
• Experience analyzing, documenting, and maintaining complex software programs, as well as designing development strategies, writing unit test cases, and deployment activities for the MSTR environment.
• Understanding of data integration best practices in BI environments.
• Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Enough practical experience to train others in decision-making, risk assessment, job knowledge, analysis, and project management.
• Ability to work independently and multi-task to meet critical deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
• Understanding of data modeling desired.
• Experience with customer data in a retail setting is also preferred.
