Bearings Engineer

This role requires supporting overall New Product qualification and development related activities and design change in Wind Turbine Rotor bearing, Pitch & Yaw bearings along with cross functional teams at multiple locations; coordinating the entire qualification development activities including requirement analysis, planning, finalizing specifications, prototype development and validation on time and in FULL.

Role & responsibilities

• Design Mechanical Components for multi megawatt wind turbines with extended support on lifting, assembly, installation, service and maintenance
• Design review of technical specifications and drawings of bearings, Comparison of bearing designs from different vendors
• Formulating the project plans & project charters; controlling certification documentation & resolving queries
• Communicate appropriately to all teams about program execution progress, risk, milestones etc.
• Design review of technical specifications and Proto drawings for release in SAP. Review of Serial Drawings/Specifications/Procedures and release.
• Ensure that Vendors fulfil certification and design documentation requirements and product reliability by Prototype testing at supplier end
• Development and adaptation of design to resolve the NCs from assembly and installation
• Close cooperation with other development departments (Turbine engineering, supply chain, production, installation and O&M). Supporting prototype test and serialization of gearboxes
• Prototype assembly support at plant
• Generate cost out ideas and implement in design for cost reduction
• Ensure 100% compliance with QMS processes
• Prototype components field evaluation for validation at site
• Troubleshooting all technical problems and guiding Field Engineers in technical aspects
• SCADA data evaluation / RCA of field failures through turbine data
