Job Description

As a Test Engineer, you will be working as part of a team dedicated to enhancing the understanding of battery performance. Your primary responsibilities will include developing test plans to evaluate battery behaviors, identifying key variables, and analyzing large volumes of test data. You will also be tasked with dissecting modules and packs to confirm degradation mechanisms, reporting findings, and designing experiments to further research specific phenomena. Your role will involve executing and maintaining battery tests using life cycle equipment, temperature/humidity chambers, and various fixtures. You will oversee thermal and mechanical tests such as overheating, thermal shock, vibration, and mechanical shock, among others. Additionally, you will be responsible for writing test plans, proposing design experiments, and summarizing results in test reports. Your ability to optimize module and pack lifetime by adjusting usage parameters and conveying test results through data manipulation and visualization will be crucial. Furthermore, you will create models to simulate battery performance at different stages of life, perform cell-level dissection analysis to identify energy and power losses mechanisms, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine optimal cell chemistry and design for electric vehicle applications. Your duties will also include setting up professional data acquisition systems, executing cell/battery pack testing, troubleshooting testing issues, and utilizing sensor instrumentation and data acquisition systems. The ideal candidate for this role should have experience with cell chemistries, knowledge of battery degradation mechanisms, and familiarity with low and high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems. Strong communication skills, the ability to present technical data effectively, and expertise in instrumentation, coding, reliability testing, and quality management are essential. Additionally, a solid understanding of Li-ion battery systems, testing regulations, and standards, along with experience in battery testing on proving grounds, is preferred. Key competencies for this position include being result-oriented, goal-driven, and possessing strong interpersonal skills. The desired candidate should be self-motivated, passionate about learning, and proactive in problem-solving. Integrity, teamwork, confidentiality, ethics, and a sense of ownership and pride in performance are crucial for success in this role.,
