Backend Engineer

As a Staff Backend Engineer at Celonis, you will play a crucial role in driving the productization of an innovative project aimed at extending process observability beyond company boundaries. Your responsibilities will include innovating beyond existing products, taking ownership of project implementation and delivery, demonstrating functional leadership, ensuring high quality, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and continuously improving procedures and practices. You will work with cutting-edge cloud technology, stay updated on industry trends, and contribute to projects with increasing autonomy. Key Responsibilities: - Innovate beyond existing products and bring new ideas to life for Celonis. - Own implementation and delivery of assigned projects. - Demonstrate functional leadership within the engineering team. - Ensure high quality and drive continuous improvement in procedures and practices. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create cohesive and efficient solutions. - Learn and grow in technical expertise and other necessary aspects for project realization. - Brainstorm with the Celonis Labs team, research potential solutions, and bring them to life. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's or master's degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience. - 10+ years of software engineering experience. - 7+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer using Node.js, Typescript, and Javascript. - Proficiency in building cloud-native distributed systems. - Experience with relational databases; PostgreSQL experience is a plus. - Ability to analyze and design complex software. - Proven background in building scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems. - Familiarity with modern engineering practices (e.g., Git strategy, CI/CD, testing). - Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across business and technical domains.
