Job Title: Infrastructure Reliability Engineer (IRE)

Job Description:

We seek a highly skilled, talented, and experienced Terraform Engineer/IaC Developer. The ideal candidate should be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining resilient infrastructure. As an Infrastructure Reliability Engineer (IRE), the individual will work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure that our infrastructure can support our growing platform while meeting high standards for availability and performance. The primary focus will be automation, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), performance monitoring, and proactively resolving issues before they impact production environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and optimise scalable, reliable, and efficient infrastructure solutions that support current and future needs.

Develop and manage automation scripts, configurations, and tools for provisioning and maintaining infrastructure using tools like Azure ARM templating as well as Powershell DSC. (Knowledge of Bicep desirable, but not essential).

Monitor infrastructure health, performance, and security using tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and KQL (essential) to proactively address bottlenecks and vulnerabilities.

Ensure infrastructure security, scalability, and reliability by following best practices and industry standards.

Design and maintain high availability systems and disaster recovery solutions, ensuring the company's data and services are safe and recoverable.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to infrastructure and configuration management.

Stay updated with Azure IaC best practices, new features, and industry trends.

Implement and maintain security best practices for infrastructure, working closely with the security team to meet compliance standards (ISO, SOC2, etc.).

Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure decisions, designs, and standards.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align the solution with business needs.

Resolve complex technical challenges and issues related to infrastructure.

Work within existing team of application engineers and able to lead and mentor where applicable.

Skills:

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Strong knowledge and experience of working with Azure.

Proven experience in working with Azure Kubernetes Service.

Knowledge\experience of using above skills and responsibilities for a broad range of Azure resources across networking, storage(not needed to DBA-level), compute(VMs, Scalesets, Functions, Logic Apps, ACS, AKS), Event, Messaging, and Queuing resources.

Proven experience working with Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent IaC tools to automate and scale infrastructure.

Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps Pipeline, GitLab CI, CircleCI) and practices to enable continuous delivery and automated testing.

Proficiency in Powershell and Azure CLI for automating tasks and creating efficient workflows.

Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.
