Azure AVD Specialist

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team in designing, deploying, and managing Azure WVD environments to achieve high performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Perform Windows Virtual Desktop VM and Host Pool creation, including custom usage profiles, VM sizing, OS selection, domain join, and network integration.
• Design, implement, and manage RemoteApp application publishing on Azure Virtual Desktop to deliver seamless app experiences.
• Configure and optimize load balancing algorithms across AVD session host pools to maximize performance and availability.
• Oversee image creation, optimization, and lifecycle management (golden images) for consistent and rapid deployment.
• Configure and manage Azure components such as resource groups, subscriptions, static IP assignments, and host pool properties through the Azure Portal and automation tools.
• Plan and execute the migration of VDI and Citrix applications to Azure WVD, ensuring minimal disruption and optimized user experience.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and ARM templates for efficient deployment and management.
• Integrate WVD solutions with other IT infrastructure including Azure AD, AD FS, networking, and application layers.
• Manage user access and authentication leveraging Azure AD, Conditional Access policies, and role-based access controls.
• Use Azure Monitor and related tools to proactively monitor performance, availability, and resource usage.
• Maintain detailed documentation of architecture, deployment procedures, automation scripts, and operational processes.
• Provide technical mentorship to the team, escalate critical issues, and collaborate with stakeholders to align technology with business goals.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on expertise in designing and managing Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD)
• Strong knowledge of Azure services, including Azure AD, networking, storage, and security.
• Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops or VMware Horizon is highly desirable.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation tools.
• Knowledge of networking protocols, VPN, and firewall configurations.
• Familiarity with virtualization concepts, VDI technologies, and desktop OS management.
• Certifications in Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect are an advantage
• Experience leading and managing technical teams.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
