As an Assistant Vice President WCR Portfolio - Economist at Barclays, you will play a crucial role in providing timely and actionable analysis of geopolitical and macroeconomic risks that could impact the investment bank's portfolio, trading activities, and overall financial stability. Your responsibilities will include: - **Risk Identification**: Proactively identifying emerging and evolving geopolitical and macroeconomic risks. - **Impact Assessment**: Analyzing the potential impact of these risks on various asset classes, markets, and the bank's specific exposures. - **Scenario Planning**: Developing and stress-testing portfolios against plausible adverse scenarios. - **Early Warning Signals**: Establishing frameworks and indicators to monitor key risks and provide early warnings. Additionally, you will be expected to: - **Decision Support**: Provide risk committees, trading desks, and senior management with necessary information and analysis for informed decision-making. - **Communication and Education**: Effectively communicate complex risks and insights to relevant stakeholders across the bank. - **Methodology Development**: Continuously refine analytical methodologies and data sources. In this role, you will be based in the Mumbai, Nirlon Knowledge Park office and will be responsible for managing and optimizing the bank's overall credit risk exposure. Your accountabilities will include: - Monitoring the financial performance and risk profile of the entire lending portfolio. - Analyzing credit trends and identifying early warning signs of potential borrower issues. - Developing and utilizing quantitative models and risk forecasting tools. - Performing portfolio stress testing exercises. - Defining and setting portfolio, segment, and customer risk appetite, policy, and limits.
