Job Description

As a Sales Engineer at Pelican Telecom, your primary responsibility will be to conduct technical needs assessments and site surveys to understand client requirements. You will collaborate with engineering, design, and project teams to develop proposals, solution diagrams, and system designs. Your role will involve presenting AV solutions to clients, translating technical language into business value and ROI. It is essential to maintain deep product knowledge of AV systems, including control systems, signal processing, video conferencing, networked AV, and display technologies. You will play a crucial part in training and mentoring sales team members on AV technologies and solution positioning. Managing key vendor relationships, staying current on AV product innovations and certifications, and expanding a portfolio of key accounts to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention will be part of your daily tasks. Additionally, preparing detailed scopes of work, budgets, and timelines for proposals, as well as responding to RFPs and RFQs with detailed, technically sound documentation, will be key responsibilities. Supporting post-sale transition to project management, ensuring clear definition and meeting of expectations, maintaining accurate sales records, forecasts, and pipeline reports, and achieving and exceeding sales targets and KPIs are vital aspects of this role. You will also represent the company at industry trade shows, events, and client meetings. The ideal candidate for this position should have a Master's/bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, or a related field (preferred) along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in AV sales, account management, or a related role. A strong understanding of AV solutions, including video conferencing, control systems, and integration, is required. In terms of skills, you should possess proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets with a consultative sales approach, excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong relationship-building and negotiation skills, and the ability to assess client needs and offer tailored AV solutions. Experience with CRM software, Microsoft Office, and AV design tools is a plus. Preferred skills for this role include experience in managing complex AV projects and familiarity with industry trends and emerging technologies.
