Position Summary

Lead and execute advanced analytical activities in a CRO environment, with a strong focus on LC-MS and Preparative HPLC method development, analysis, purification, data interpretation, and reporting. The role requires technical expertise, project ownership, mentoring of junior staff, and strict adherence to quality systems and SOPs.

Job Profile:

Technical & Analytical Responsibilities:

  • Lead sample preparation, method development, validation, and routine analysis using LC-MS and Prep-HPLC.
  • Design and execute purification strategies using Preparative HPLC to support medicinal chemistry and R&D projects.
  • Perform advanced data interpretation, ensure data integrity, and prepare high-quality technical and study reports.
  • Review analytical data generated by junior team members and provide technical guidance.
  • Troubleshoot complex analytical and instrument-related issues independently.
  • Ensure effective utilization of Waters LC-MS systems, Prep-HPLC systems, and Empower software openlab & Chemstation.

Instrument & Facility Management:

  • Oversee routine, preventive, and breakdown maintenance of LC-MS, Prep-HPLC, and other analytical instruments.
  • Coordinate with service engineers and vendors for instrument qualification and repairs.
  • Ensure optimal functioning and compliance of analytical laboratory facilities.
  • Take responsibility for maintenance and calibration of additional analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, IR, UV-Vis, etc.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Ensure all analytical activities are conducted in accordance with company SOPs, GLP/GMP guidelines, and regulatory expectations.
  • Review and approve analytical documentation, raw data, and reports.
  • Support audits, inspections, and internal quality reviews.
  • Ensure proper preparation and review of dispatch documentation for compounds and materials.

Team & Project Support:

  • Act as a technical point of contact for project leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and technical support to junior scientists and analysts.
  • Proactively communicate analytical challenges, timelines, and risks to project stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in analytical workflows and laboratory practices.

Laboratory Practices:

  • Ensure strict adherence to 5S, safety, cleanliness, and good laboratory practices.
  • Promote careful handling of instruments to avoid damage and ensure longevity.

Desired Profile:

  • M.Sc (Analytical Chemistry / Chemistry ) with 6 to 9 years of relevant experience in Analytical R&D within a CRO, pharmaceutical, or chemical research environment.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in LC-MS and Preparative HPLC, preferably on Waters platforms with Empower software.
  • Proven experience in method development, purification, troubleshooting, and data review.
  • Practical exposure to other analytical techniques such as GC, IR, UV-Visible spectroscopy, etc.
  • Experience working under GLP/GMP and ICH guidelines is highly desirable.
  • Advanced LC-MS and Prep-HPLC expertise.
  • Analytical method development & purification strategies.
  • Instrument troubleshooting & lifecycle management.
  • Data integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Technical leadership & mentoring.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective cross-functional communication.
