Associate Media Systems Engineer

Position Summary

The Physical & Post Technology department (PPT) is looking for junior engineer to work within an exciting and growing environment. PPT is responsible for all aspects of post-production and media services for ILM and Lucasfilm, including editorial, dailies reviews and virtual production.

Client deliverables are also part of PPT s responsibilities as well as technical project design and maintaining the presentation theaters.


Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Provide frontline support for multiple screening rooms, conference rooms, and MCR environments
Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve issues involving video, audio and file-based media production workflowsPartner with engineers and management to develop and implement new procedures and workflows as required by in house editorial and productionFrontline technical support for Avid systems, editorial suites, dailies review rooms, motion capture stage and backend equipment including video routers, network switches, displays, projectors, etc.Troubleshoot Audio and Video signal flow and playback issues during local and remote client sessionsSupport media workstations running under Windows, Mac and Linux operating systemsWork with senior engineers to design, deploy and document new media production systemsCollaborate effectively with artists, production supervisors, and technical staff to solve media related technical issuesPreparation of end-user and engineering documentation

Job Requirements

Education / Experience:
BA or Associate Degree in Engineering, Communications, Electronics or relevant field or equivalent years of experience

2-4 years of technical experience in video post-production, broadcast or related field

Required Skills / Competencies:
Must possess excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.Ability to perform well as an individual while also contributing to a team within a fast paced, deadline-driven post production environment.Demonstrate the ability to work independently under pressure. Proactive thinker and self-starter.Some travel as required.

Preferred Skills / Competencies:


Technical Skills:Strong understanding and experience with professional and consumer Audio / Video signal flow.Familiarity and experience troubleshooting and maintaining Windows, OS X and Linux operating systems.Able to quickly diagnose or escalate system level problems during client sessions.Experience in entry level computer scripting preferred.Wiring, equipment installation and cable management skills.
