Job Purpose

Responsible for ensuring smooth operation, preventive and breakdown maintenance of all mechanical equipment in the DRI Plant. The role focuses on maximizing equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and ensuring safe and cost-effective maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and monitor preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment in the DRI Plant.
  
• Troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns in critical equipment like kilns, cooler, conveyors, blowers, pumps, gearboxes, fans, compressors, and rotary equipment.
  
• Prepare and implement maintenance schedules to reduce unplanned downtime.
  
• Maintain records of equipment performance, breakdown analysis, and maintenance history.
  
• Coordinate with operations and other departments to ensure minimal production disruption.
  
• Ensure inventory management and availability of critical spares.
  
• Identify opportunities for equipment modification, upgradation, and reliability improvement.
  
• Implement and monitor safety procedures during maintenance activities.
  
• Lead a team of engineers, supervisors, and technicians to execute maintenance jobs effectively.
  
• Monitor AMC/contractor activities for quality and compliance.
  
• Drive cost optimization initiatives in maintenance without compromising reliability and safety.
  

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of rotary and static equipment in DRI plants.
  
• Hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance of kilns, rotary equipment, bearings, lubrication, and hydraulics.
  
• Expertise in root cause analysis (RCA) and troubleshooting.
  
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  
• Familiarity with SAP / ERP systems for maintenance planning.
  
• Good leadership, planning, and execution skills.
  
• Strong focus on safety and quality.
  
• Problem-solving mindset and ability to work under pressure.
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Education

  : B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Diploma holders with relevant experience can also be considered).

• Experience

  :
• Assistant Manager: 6-8 years in mechanical maintenance (preferably in DRI / steel / process industry).
  
• Deputy Manager: 8-12 years in mechanical maintenance with exposure to DRI operations.
  

Work Conditions

• Plant-based role with rotational / general shift.
  
• Requires physical presence in plant areas during breakdowns and shutdowns.
  
• Involves coordination with multiple departments and contractors.
