Job Description

Urgent Opening for the Buyer- Assistant Manager/Deputy Manager

Job Location ;- Pipavav

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing

  • Plan and execute purchasing activities for raw materials, components, consumables, and services.

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets.

  • Prepare RFQs, analyze quotations, and negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.

  • Issue Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure accurate documentation.

Supply Chain Coordination

  • Coordinate with planning, production, quality, and logistics teams to ensure uninterrupted material flow.

  • Monitor inventory levels to avoid stock-outs or excess inventory.

  • Follow up with suppliers on delivery schedules and resolve delays or shortages.

Cost & Vendor Management

  • Achieve cost reduction through negotiation, alternative sourcing, and value engineering.

  • Conduct supplier performance reviews based on quality, delivery, and cost.

  • Maintain approved vendor lists and ensure compliance with company standards.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and ethical standards.

  • Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and supplier documentation.

  • Support audits and management reporting related to purchasing and SCM activities.

Team & Process Support

  • Assist SCM Manager in process improvements and strategic sourcing initiatives.

  • Support junior buyers or executives when required.

  • Participate in continuous improvement and digitalization initiatives within SCM.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.

  • 5-8 years

    of experience in purchasing / procurement / SCM (manufacturing preferred).

  • Experience handling domestic and/or international suppliers.

  • Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).

  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills

  • Understanding of supply chain and inventory management principles

  • Analytical and cost optimization skills

  • Good communication and stakeholder coordination

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems
