Maintain regular coordination with the Blasting Officer of the Principal Employer to align on blast schedules, procedures, and safety protocols.
Identify and select appropriate drilling sites in consultation with the mine planning and geology teams to optimize blasting outcomes.
Calculate the quantity of explosives required for daily blasting operations based on drilling data and blast design, and ensure timely indenting and procurement.
Ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), standing instructions, and statutory guidelines for drilling, blasting, handling, storage and transportation of explosives.
Ensure timely preparation and filing of statutory returns and records related to explosives and blasting operations, as per the Explosives Act and DGMS norms.
Take responsibility for the security and proper maintenance of the explosive magazine, and ensure the safety of all personnel involved in blasting operations.
Monitor ground vibration and fly rock limits through seismograph readings and maintain blast log registers.
Ensure safety and warning measures in accordance with DGMS guidelines during blasting operations
Coordinate blast design with vibration control limits, especially in proximity to settlements or sensitive areas.
Ensure that vehicles used for transporting explosives are fit, certified, and meet all statutory and safety standards before operation.
