As the Assistant EHS Manager (Pune Plant)
, you will lead the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) agenda at the Pune site, driving compliance, risk management, and a strong safety culture in line with legal requirements and business objectives. You will oversee EHS systems, audits, training, and emergency preparedness while fostering continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration. You will report directly to the EHS Manager and will be based in Ranjangaon, Pune.

- Lead, implement and strengthen EHS systems, culture and compliance at the Pune site, aligning safety initiatives with business objectives and legal requirements.
- Conduct and lead risk assessments (PHA, PRA, PSSR, HIRA, Ergo), statutory compliance, hazardous material management, and environmental monitoring.
- Conduct internal audits, Gemba Walks, and ensure readiness through robust emergency response planning and drills (Site Emergency Plan).
- Encourage proactive safety reporting, investigate incidents, and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to drive continuous improvement.
- Design and deliver engaging training programs, safety campaigns, and committee-led initiatives to build awareness and accountability across the workforce.
- Ensure the availability of PPE, manage EHS-related procurement and contractor performance, and monitor relevant CapEx projects.
- Mentor and develop the EHS team while collaborating with cross-functional partners to embed safety into every aspect of operations.

Your professional profile includes:
- Bachelors of Chemical or Environmental Engineering, or Masters in Chemistry or Environmental Science, coupled with CLI / RLI / MSBTE recognized Diploma in Industrial Safety.
- Minimum 10 years experience in EHS within Flavour & Fragrance, Pharmaceutical (API), Specialty Chemicals, or FMCG manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated experience in independently managing the EHS function in a medium-sized manufacturing facility.
- Experience in process safety, with the ability to champion and embed a strong safety-first culture across all levels from shopfloor to office staff.
- Strong knowledge of national and international EHS standards, including NFPA, ATEX, and IECEx.
- Proficient in using EHS IT and audit systems (RCMS and PSM System) and understanding their integration with broader business processes.
- Proven ability to influence and drive strategic EHS outcomes in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; working knowledge of SAP and other relevant IT tools.
- Self motivated and able to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross functional teams and external partners.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills to build trust and drive EHS priorities in a matrixed environment.
- Fluent in local languages such as Marathi and Hindi are advantageous.
