Apprentice - Metallurgist and Material Engineering

Role Overview: As an apprentice at Oceaneering India Center, you will support the selection, testing, and improvement of materials used in manufacturing components and products. Your role will involve evaluating material properties, conducting basic failure analysis, contributing to material improvement suggestions, and working alongside design and engineering teams to meet product performance goals. Your collaboration and willingness to learn will be key to your success in this role. Key Responsibilities: - Familiarize yourself with various materials and heat treatment processes, both metallic and non-metallic. - Be conversant with ferrous and non-ferrous castings, heat-treated forgings, raw materials, suspension/sintered parts, and metal joining/friction welding. - Utilize root cause analysis and problem-solving skills. - Advise on appropriate metals and alloys for specific applications based on their properties and performance requirements. - Investigate and diagnose the cause of material failure and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. Qualifications Required: - Graduation or Post-graduation in Metallurgy/Material Science Technology BE or B Tech from a reputed University. Desired Qualifications: - Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. - Training in Software tools (e.g., PTC Windchill for PLM, ANSYS, MATLAB, or other material simulation software) is a plus. - Knowledge of ISO and ASTM standards, and certifications related to these standards may be beneficial.
