Application Engineer

Responsibilities Set up virtualized servers for installing, configuring, and maintaining several SW platforms for reading energy and power quality information. Select and configure field-level protocol-based devices and gateways to integrate back into the overall system architecture. Understand data transfer (HTTP(s) Protocols) and translation techniques (ETL) such as DB to DB, CSV to DB, or use of Web Services (REST & SOAP) to transfer data. Education Required Four-year IS or CS degree required. IT Certifications are a plus. Knowledge of energy management domain is a plus. Technical Experience Required Strong knowledge of Modbus, HTTP(s), BacNet, OPC UA protocols. Experience with communications over RS-485 and Ethernet. 3+ years experience with field-based devices such as metering devices and protocol gateways. 2+ years experience with configuring Windows and/or Linux based servers and supporting web applications. 2+ years experience configuration of large corporate networks and associated applications. Experience in server configuration & management (MS Server, VMWare, MS SQL Server, etc.). Personal Attributes Required Self-motivated with strong organizational skills. Excellent communication skills within a technical environment (written & oral). Good track record of obtaining results with minimal supervision in a fast-paced team environment. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Good interpersonal team skills for teamwork, respect, courtesy, tact, and discretion. A good track record of interfacing with other teams to solve problems. Ability to accommodate international & domestic travel once or twice a year
