The Apparel Patternmaker specializing in knits will be responsible for transforming designers" sketches or concepts into precise master patterns and expertly grading them across multiple sizes. Collaborating closely with designers, dress forms, and models, you will refine fit and drape. Your role grade will be determined by your experience and depth of knowledge in this area. You will collaborate closely with designers to interpret design sketches and specifications, ensuring clarity before drafting patterns. Developing patterns for Kids, Womens, and Mens divisions for both top and bottom wears will be a key responsibility. You will create initial patterns manually (draping on muslin) or digitally using CAD software such as Gerber, Lectra, Optitex, Browzwear, or CLO. Additionally, you will conduct fittings on mannequins or live models, adjusting patterns based on feedback to achieve optimal garment fit, drape, and aesthetics. Grading patterns to create a full size range while maintaining proportions and design integrity is essential. Digitizing and archiving final patterns, along with maintaining accurate documentation of revisions, style codes, and technical specifications, will also be part of your duties. Collaboration with the Factory team and sampling team to troubleshoot construction challenges and optimize fabric usage or production efficiency is required. The ideal candidate should possess an Associate/Diploma/Bachelors/Masters degree in Fashion Design, Garment Technology, Fashion Technology, Textile Technology, or have strong experience in the apparel field, predominantly in Natural Knits/Synthetic Knits. Proficiency in CAD patternmaking tools like Gerber Accumark, Lectra, Optitex, Browzwear, CLO, along with manual draping/drafting skills is necessary. Strong knowledge of garment construction methods, fabric behavior, pattern grading, and Indian and Asian sizing systems is crucial. Effective communication and teamwork skills are essential to liaise with designers, sample tailors, and production teams. Knowledge of fit enhancement techniques across various materials including knits, wovens, and stretch fabrics is also required.
