Our Expectations We are looking for a Software Engineer eager to develop and implement AI-powered solutions within Roches technology ecosystem. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in software development, a willingness to upskill in AI and Generative AI technologies, and the ability to integrate large language models (LLMs) into applications and software development processes (testing, refactoring, requirements management, deployment). Key Competencies & Skills AI Expertise Understanding of how LLMs work, their strengths, limitations, and practical applications. Experience in basic prompt engineering. Familiarity with direct LLM API usage (e.g., OpenAI API, SDKs). Conceptual understanding of RAG architecture. Hands-on experience with libraries to create basic LLM workflows (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex) and vector databases (e.g., Qdrant) is a plus. Basic understanding of NLP concepts such as tokens and embeddings. Software Development & Cloud Engineering: Strong programming skills in at least one language (e.g., Python, Go, TypeScript, Java, Kotlin) with a good understanding of tooling, ecosystem, and software development best practices. Experience with API usage and basic understanding of cloud-based AI deployments (AWS/Azure/GCP). Familiarity with AI software development tools (e.g., Github Copilot). DevOps Practices: Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation testing. Familiarity with GitHub and GitLab. Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Good communication skills in English (B2/C1 level) to work within cross-functional teams. Ability to collaborate with Engineers and potentially Data Scientists on AI-driven enhancements. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and optimize custom applications, potentially incorporating AI-powered features within Roche s ecosystem. Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) into custom applications, leveraging APIs and prompt engineering techniques, under guidance. Utilize cloud-based AI services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to build basic AI-driven functionalities. Collaborate with internal teams to apply AI for the enhancement of custom applications. Contribute to identifying opportunities for AI to improve application functionality. Participate in knowledge sharing activities within the team. Example Projects You May Work On Integrating AI features into existing custom applications to improve user experience. Developing basic AI-powered tools to aid in application development.
