Job Description

As a z/OS Assembler Manager Development & Maintenance at BMC, you will oversee product R&D support and developing fixing APARs for a Mainframe (z/OS) product. You will have the opportunity to build and lead a talented team of approximately 10 engineers, addressing high-impact issues, improving product reliability, and delivering exceptional value to our customers. Your role will involve managing APARs cycles, collaborating with cross-functional globally distributed teams, and ensuring our software meets the highest quality and performance standards. - Build and lead a team of approximately 10 mainframe engineers in product support and APARs development for mission-critical software. - Develop and implement diagnostic tools and processes to enhance product supportability. - Collaborate with product teams to define requirements and prioritize development tasks. - Manage APARs development cycles, ensuring timely delivery and quality assurance. - Oversee people-related responsibilities, including leading the hiring process, delegating tasks, prioritizing workloads, and providing guidance to ensure team success and individual growth. - Foster a sense of urgency within the team to meet project deadlines. - Encourage continuous learning and development among team members. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field. - 7+ years of overall software engineering experience on Mainframe z/OS environment. - 3+ years of experience in a people management role. - Deep understanding and coding experience in z/Assembler. - Deep proficiency in Mainframe z/OS environment including JCL, JES2(3), SMS, and z/OS internals. - Capable of analyzing a dump using IPCS. - Knowledge in SMP/E. - Capable of having technical discussions and problem analysis with customers. - Excellent problem-solving skills and a sense of urgency. - Ability to build and lead effective teams, fostering collaboration and growth. - Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and adapt. - Great communication and interpersonal skills. Nice to have: - Experience with Java C and C++. - Experience with Unix System Services and Language Environment. - Experience in building teams from scratch. - Experience working in an enterprise product-based company.,
