Job Description

Job Title: Ward Nurse

Department: Nursing / Inpatient Ward
Reports to: Ward Sister / Charge Nurse / Nurse Manager

Job Purpose:

To provide high-quality nursing care to patients admitted to the ward, ensuring their physical, emotional, and psychological needs are met. The Ward Nurse works as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote recovery, maintain patient safety, and deliver evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities:Patient Care:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised nursing care plans for patients.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and safely.
  • Monitor, record, and report changes in patients’ conditions to senior staff or doctors.
  • Assist with personal care needs, such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and comfort.
  • Prepare patients for investigations, procedures, and discharge.

Clinical Duties:

  • Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Ensure infection prevention and control standards are adhered to.
  • Manage medical equipment safely and report faults promptly.
  • Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.

Communication:

  • Provide clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and carers.
  • Collaborate effectively with doctors, allied health professionals, and other nursing staff.
  • Educate patients and families about treatment plans and post-discharge care.

Professional Development:

  • Participate in continuing education and training programs.
  • Maintain professional registration and adhere to nursing code of conduct.
  • Support and mentor junior staff, student nurses, and healthcare assistants.

Health & Safety:

  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Follow all hospital policies on incident reporting, manual handling, and emergency procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license/registration.
  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
  • Experience in general ward nursing or relevant specialty preferred (e.g., medical, surgical).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
