Ward In Charge

The Ward In-Charge is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and managing the daily operations of the ward. They ensure high standards of patient care, effective utilization of staff, adherence to hospital policies, and smooth functioning of the ward.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care & Management:

• Ensure quality nursing care and patient safety in the ward.
• Supervise admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Monitor vital signs, treatment administration, and patient progress.
• Handle patient complaints and resolve issues promptly.

2. Staff Supervision & Coordination:

• Allocate duties and prepare staff duty rosters.
• Supervise and guide staff nurses, attendants, and housekeeping staff.
• Provide on-job training, mentoring, and performance feedback to ward staff.
• Ensure discipline, punctuality, and adherence to hospital policies among staff.

3. Administrative Responsibilities:

• Maintain patient records, reports, and nursing documentation.
• Ensure proper inventory of medicines, consumables, and ward equipment.
• Monitor cleanliness, infection control practices, and ward hygiene.
• Conduct ward meetings and report to Nursing Superintendent.

4. Emergency & Clinical Support:

• Respond promptly to medical emergencies in the ward.
• Coordinate with doctors and other departments for smooth patient care.
• Ensure availability of emergency equipment and supplies.

5. Quality & Compliance:

• Implement hospital protocols, NABH standards, and infection control guidelines.
• Monitor patient satisfaction and take corrective actions when required.
• Participate in audits, training sessions, and continuous quality improvement.
