Job Description

Vendor Development- OSP(NPD)

Role Summary:

  • Manage supplier engagement for new product parts development.
  • Ensure manufacturability, cost competitiveness, and quality compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design, Costing, Procurement, Quality) for successful product launches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vendor Identification & Assessment

    • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for NPD parts.
    • Assess technical capability for machining, ED coating, nano coating, and hardening processes.
    • Ensure compliance with quality standards and capacity requirements.
  • Design Collaboration & Feasibility

    • Participate in drawing reviews and feasibility studies with suppliers.
    • Provide DFM (Design for Manufacturing) feedback and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Costing & Approval

    • Prepare cost estimates for new development parts.
    • Submit cost data to costing department for approval.
    • Analyze supplier quotes and negotiate cost optimization.
  • Prototype & Pilot Lot Management

    • Raise PR and PO for prototype and pilot lots.
    • Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery and monitor progress.
    • Ensure adherence to process requirements (machining, ED coating, nano coating, hardening).
  • CR Sample Trials & Design Revisions

    • Conduct CR sample trials and evaluate results with design team.
    • Facilitate design revisions based on trial feedback.
    • Manage PPAP and release parts for regular production.
  • Issue Resolution & Communication

    • Identify and resolve technical and quality issues during development.
    • Drive corrective actions through proper email communication and CFT collaboration.
    • Maintain documentation of NCRs, CAPA, and design changes.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Knowledge of machining, ED coating, nano coating, and hardening processes.
  • Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and supplier quality standards.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Cost analysis and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in supplier development or NPD.
  • Exposure to automotive or industrial product development preferred.

KPIs:

  • On-time completion of NPD gates.
  • First-pass PPAP approval rate.
  • Cost variance against target.
  • Supplier quality performance during development.
