Roles & Responsibilities

1. Product Design Delivery

• Translate PRDs or rough asks into clear design briefs with quick low-fidelity sketches.
• Define flows and states (happy paths, errors, loading, permissions) with state tables/annotations.
• Deliver wireframes hi-fi designs with consistent spacing, type scales, and responsive grids.
• Build interactive prototypes (Figma variants) to validate tasks and interactions.
• Run lightweight usability checks and capture actionable findings.

2. Design System & Library

• Maintain tokens (color, type, spacing, motion, etc.) with clear naming and usage.
• Build reusable components with documented props, states, and do/dont guidelines.
• Document patterns for recurring flows (search, filters, forms, approvals, pagination).
• Manage versioning and publish updates with migration notes.
• Ensure parity with code via close collaboration with engineering (Storybook or similar).
• Formulating cohesive design guidelines to ensure consistency across product verticals.

3. Multi-Project Operations

• Manage intake and backlog with estimates, dependencies, and scope visibility.
• Deliver complete, source-of-truth specs (redlines, breakpoints, interaction notes).
• Perform design QA, file issues with screenshots, and define acceptance criteria.

4. Collaboration & Communication

• With PMs:

  Convert briefs into one-pagers (users, constraints, success metrics). Keep assumptions, risks, and trade-offs visible.

• With Engineers:

  Reuse existing components, define states/props up front, maintain a clean Figma source file, and sync design code via shared sandboxes.

• With Stakeholders:

  Run focused, goal-driven reviews; capture and prioritize feedback objectively.

5. Quality Standards

• Apply accessibility essentials (contrast, focus, tap size, error messages).
• Design for performance (skeletons, progressive disclosure, offline readiness).
• Ensure consistency by prioritizing patterns over one-off designs.

6. AI in Workflow

• Use AI to accelerate exploration (flows, microcopy, error states).
• Generate structured checklists, prop/state tables, and spec expansions.
• Prompt AI for QA (spacing, missing states, accessibility basics).
• Cluster usability feedback and propose data-driven experiments.
• Support dev handoff by aligning Figma components with implemented UI.
• Keep humans-in-the-loop and document AI-assisted decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

• 35 years’ product design experience across web and mobile.
• Strong IA/interaction design for complex flows, permissions, and errors.
• Expert Figma skills (auto-layout, components, variants, prototyping, publishing).
• Proven experience building/maintaining design systems and working closely with engineers.
• Clear, concise documentation and communication skills.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with data-heavy UIs and visualizations.
• Comfort with complex forms/approvals and multi-role workflows.
• Skills in micro-interactions, motion, and iconography.
• Familiarity with Storybook (or similar) and basic front-end concepts.
• Active use of AI tools in design workflow.
