Utility Engineer

Role & responsibilities-

1. Utility Systems Operations

Oversee and manage the following utility systems critical to battery manufacturing:

• Compressed Air Systems

• Industrial Chillers / Cooling Towers

• Steam Boilers / Hot Water Generators

• Water Treatment Systems

  :

• DM/RO Plants

• Soft Water Systems

• Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) / Sewage Treatment Plant (STP)

  :
• wastewater treatment and neutralization

• Power Distribution System

  :
• HT/LT Panels, Transformers, DG Sets, UPS for sensitive loads (formation chargers)

• Exhaust & Ventilation Systems

  :
• Acid fume extraction, mist eliminators, and scrubbers for pollution control

• ETP & STP Plants and Systems

  :
• Through knowledge of operation & Maintenance of ETP&STP plants, also Zero liquid Discharge (ZLD)

2. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance

• Develop and implement maintenance schedules (PM, CBM, TBM) for all utility assets.
• Troubleshoot utility system issues to minimize downtime in critical manufacturing stages.
• Maintain spares inventory and critical equipment health checks.

3. Energy & Resource Management

• Monitor and control consumption of

  electricity, water, diesel, and compressed air

  .
• Optimize performance of high-energy systems like chillers, compressors, and formation rectifiers.
• Implement energy-saving initiatives like VFDs, heat recovery, air leak audits, etc.
• Contribute to

  Green Plant Initiatives

  (solar power, rainwater harvesting, etc.)

4. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with

  PCB norms

  ,

  MIDC guidelines

  , and

  Electrical Inspector requirements

  .
• Maintain records for

  acid handling

  ,

  hazardous waste discharge

  , and

  water pollution control

  .
• Oversee safety systems (acid spill kits, neutralization pits, ventilation, etc.)
• Prepare for ISO, OSHA, and other plant audits.

5. Utility Expansion & Projects

• Plan and execute utility systems for

  plant expansion

  ,

  new equipment

  , or

  new process lines

  (e.g., additional formation tanks, new acid tanks, etc.).
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, and process teams for integration.
• Manage CapEx budgeting, vendor evaluation, installation, and commissioning.

6. Team & Vendor Management

• Lead a team of utility engineers, electricians, and operators.
• Conduct skill development and safety training sessions.
• Manage vendors for AMCs of compressors, chillers, boilers, DG sets, etc.

7. Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain utility logs (energy, air, water, chemical usage).
• Submit daily/monthly reports to plant management.
• Support budgeting and KPI tracking (power/ton of battery, water/ton, etc.)

Preferred candidate profile-

• 2-5 years of experience in utility maintenance or operations in an automobile industry
• BE/Diploma in relevant field (e.g., Electrical Engineering) or B.Tech/B.E. degree from a recognized university.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles, electronics, telecommunication concepts, and mechanical mechanics.
