Job Description

To manage, organize, and develop the school library to support teaching, learning, and research by providing access to a wide range of resources, both physical and digital, and to foster reading habits and information literacy among students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

1. Library Management & Administration

Organize,classify, and maintain books, journals, digital resources, and other learning materials.

Establish and enforce library policies and procedures.

Maintain an accurate catalogue and inventory of resources.

Manage library budget, acquisitions, and vendor coordination.

2. Student & Faculty Support

Guide students in locating, evaluating, and using information resources.

Support faculty with reference materials for curriculum and research.

Conduct orientation programs and workshops on library usage and information literacy.

3. Collection Development

Identify, acquire, and maintain relevant learning resources (books, e-books,periodicals, databases).

Ensure the collection supports the school curriculum and students learning needs.

Regularly weed out outdated or damaged materials.

4.Technology & Digital Resources

Manage online databases, e-books, and digital subscriptions.

Maintain the librarys digital catalogue and ensure accessibility.

5. Compliance & Reporting

Ensure adherence to institutional policies and educational standards.

Maintain usage records and prepare periodic reports on library activities.

Support audits and accreditation requirements related to library facilities.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Masters / Bachelor’s degree in Library Science / Information Science or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in managing a school or academic library preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cataloguing, classification, and library automation systems.
  • Familiarity with digital resources, e-libraries, and educational technology.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to promote reading and research culture among students.
