Responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing fire protection plumbing systems (sprinklers, standpipes, fire mains). Ensures system reliability, code compliance, and occupant safety in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Installation & Assembly Install sprinkler systems, standpipes, hose systems, and underground mains per blueprints and NFPA/local codes Measure, cut, thread, weld, solder, and join pipes using appropriate techniques Maintenance, Testing & Repair Perform routine preventive inspections and functional tests (leaks, pressure, flow, alarms) Diagnose and troubleshoot issues, repairing leaks, blockages, and faulty components with tools like ultrasonic gauges . Compliance & Record-Keeping Ensure all work complies with relevant fire and plumbing codes (e.g., NFPA 13/25) Document installations, inspections, service logs, material usage, and test results Collaboration & Communication Coordinate with electricians, engineers, contractors, and project managers on-site Provide clear updates and safety guidance to clients and teams. Emergency Response & On‑Call Support Respond rapidly to system malfunctions or fire safety emergencies, including after-hours calls Safety & Professional Conduct Strict adherence to safety protocols (PPE, confined spaces, elevated work) Maintain clean, organized workspaces and follow disposal procedures. A welder is responsible for fabricating and assembling metal components used in fire suppression systems, fire trucks, and related safety equipment. This role involves reading blueprints, operating welding equipment, ensuring welds meet safety and quality standards, and potentially supporting pipe fitting and system maintenance. Key Responsibilities: 1. Fabrication and Assembly: Construct metal structures and components such as piping, brackets, and supports Apply welding techniques including MIG, TIG, and others as required 2. Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications Ensure accuracy in fabrication and assembly as per design requirements 3. Equipment Operation: Operate welding machines, power tools, and torches Perform welding in various positions: flat, vertical, and overhead 4. Quality Control: Inspect welds for strength, penetration, and appearance Make adjustments or repairs as necessary to meet quality standards 5. Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols strictly Use and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) 6. Maintenance and Repair: Assist in the upkeep and repair of fire suppression equipment and systems Perform welding repairs on pipes, tanks, and other components 7. Collaboration: Coordinate with engineers, pipefitters, and other team members Ensure timely and accurate project completion 8.
