Truck & Trailer Mechanic

As a member of the maintenance team at Charter Manufacturing, your role is crucial in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of trucks and trailers. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and fostering continuous improvement and teamwork within the department. Key Responsibilities: - Perform maintenance and repair on diesel and gas trucks/trailers, including brakes, lights, engines, suspension, etc. - Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using tools and manuals. - Conduct inspections to ensure DOT compliance. - Maintain accurate records and manage parts inventory. - Assist with equipment repairs and facility maintenance. - Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Qualifications Required: - High school diploma or GED. - Minimum of 3 years of experience in truck/trailer maintenance. - Ability to operate trucks/trailers for repairs. - Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills. - Familiarity with safety procedures, 5S, and maintenance documentation. - Ability to work in all weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications: - Technical certification or associate degree in diesel technology. - 5+ years of experience in mechanical/electrical truck/trailer repair. - CDL license. - Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and pipefitting. - Safety awareness training.
