About the Role

The Transaction Monitoring Analyst plays a critical role in maintaining strong financial crime governance and supporting world-class monitoring and surveillance programs. The role involves reviewing complex customer transactions, investigating unusual activity, and documenting findings in line with established policies and regulatory expectations.

Financial Crime Operations

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Monitoring & Investigations

• Perform end-to-end transaction monitoring reviews to detect suspicious or unusual activity.
• Analyse customer profiles and behaviors using a combination of automated alerts, manual reviews, and investigative tools.
• Conduct investigations and determine grounds of unusual activity based on internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Review colleagues work where required and consolidate findings for accuracy and consistency.

Documentation & Reporting

• Document investigative outcomes, evidence, and conclusions clearly and comprehensively.
• Prepare reports and insights as required, ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy.
• Escalate issues, breaches, or risks promptly as per the defined escalation procedures.

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure adherence to AML/CTF regulatory requirements, internal controls, and risk frameworks.
• Maintain strong financial crime standards and contribute to continuous improvement in detection capabilities.
• Participate in knowledge-sharing and calibration sessions to uplift team capability and maintain consistency.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with internal stakeholders within Financial Crime Operations and other business units.
• Share learnings and outcomes to help enhance overall team effectiveness and skill calibration.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative information.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
• Comfortable interacting with internal stakeholders across various levels.
• Strong understanding of global financial crime typologies, fraud patterns, and emerging trends.
• Ability to identify data gaps, quality issues, and suggest solutions.
• Experience working with AML/CTF regulatory and risk frameworks (desirable).
• Familiarity with SharePoint, SQL, or report-building tools is highly valued.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum

  2 years of experience

  in Transaction Monitoring, AML Investigations, or Financial Crime roles.
• Overall

  4+ years of experience

  working within Financial Services, law enforcement, regulatory bodies, or investigative environments.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate documentation, identify risks, and draw clear investigative conclusions.
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills, grammar, and report-writing capability.
• Good understanding of banking products and financial services markets.

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (mandatory).
• Professional certifications in AML/CTF such as

  ACAMS, ICA

  , or relevant law-enforcement qualifications are preferred.
