Key Responsibilities: 1. Seed Research & Field Trials: Participate in field trials to evaluate crop varieties for yield, adaptability, and resistance • Assist in hybrid seed development (emasculation, pollination, roguing) • Collect and analyze data on plant traits, pest/disease tolerance, and performance metrics • Support technical reporting, trial summaries, and SOP preparation • Ensure maintenance of field and lab equipment and follow biosafety protocols 2. Seed Production Operations: Assist in planning and execution of seed production programs across various crops • Monitor field activities including land prep, sowing, irrigation, and crop care • Perform isolation checks, field inspections, and roguing to maintain genetic purity • Coordinate with farmers, field supervisors, and QA teams for quality compliance • Maintain accurate field data and weather logs 3. Quality Control & Seed Testing: Draw and test seed samples for physical purity, germination, and genetic identity • Conduct lab tests (purity, viability, moisture content) as per ISTA or national protocols • Support Grow-Out Tests (GOT) for genetic purity validation • Operate and calibrate lab instruments (germinators, seed counters, blowers) • Maintain lab records, batch logs, and participate in audit readiness Preferred Skills & Competencies: Understanding of seed biology, crop stages, and varietal traits • Knowledge of seed testing procedures and certification standards • Field-level exposure to breeding techniques, data collection, and crop monitoring • Strong observation, reporting, and data handling abilities • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic digital record tools • Adaptability to field and lab environments, with willingness to travel or work outdoors • Good communication skills and collaborative approach
