Tool Room Engineer

Role & responsibilities Manufacturing and maintenance of press tools, forging dies (hot & cold), jigs, fixtures, and gauges used in the production of engine valves and related components. Deep understanding and hands-on experience in advanced tool manufacturing techniques including taper fit, press fit, push fit, and shrink fit . Proficient in the selection of die steels and setting hardness parameters according to forging and press tool requirements. Proficient in operating and guiding all tool room machines (lathe, milling, grinding, EDM, wire-cut, etc.) and setting machine parameters for complex tools. Capable of interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T for high-precision tooling. Independently handle tool planning and scheduling based on the Production Planning & Control (PPC) plan . Conduct tool inspection and ensure adherence to quality standards. Lead or assist in new tool development , die trials , and tool validation for manufacturing feasibility. Maintain documentation Evaluate, troubleshoot, and resolve tooling issues to minimize production downtime. Manpower supervision for tool room operations ensuring safety, productivity, and quality. Manage preventive and breakdown maintenance of tools and dies to ensure extended tool life. Maintain strong coordination between design, production, and quality teams for smooth tooling operations. Desired Candidate Profile: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Tool & Die / Production Engineering . 3+ years of relevant experience in tool room operations , ideally in the automotive/forging/precision components industry . Proficient with measuring instruments (micrometers, height gauges, CMM, etc.). Familiar with MS Office tools Excel (data logs, monitoring sheets), PowerPoint (reporting), and Word (documentation). Strong problem-solving , analytical , and organizational skills. Flexible, detail-oriented, and capable of working under pressure. Excellent communication and team coordination abilities.
