Description
In this role, your responsibilities will include developing, maintaining, and updating operator manuals and instruction sheets for Professional Tools products. You will format documents and create artwork using Adobe tools such as Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. Additionally, you will be tasked with designing and updating product warning labels and markings to ensure compliance with internal and external standards such as ANSI, UL, ISO, UL/IEC 62841, and UL/IEC 60335. You must be able to interpret product functionality and risk without direct access to physical products and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Design, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Service across global locations. Gathering technical content from various sources such as existing manuals, product drawings, and standards will be a part of your role. It is essential to maintain consistency in terminology, formatting, and structure across all documentation and support Product Environmental Compliance (PEC) by creating and updating documents like Prop 65, REACH, RoHS, and SDS files. Assisting in regulatory documentation including Technical Files and certification markings (CE, RCM) will also be required. Moreover, continuously exploring new tools and practices to enhance documentation quality and adhering to and documenting internal documentation standards are integral parts of the job. To be successful in this role, you should have a Bachelor's degree with a Science or Engineering background and possess 3 to 5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a product-based environment. Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat tools (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and the Microsoft Office Suite is necessary. Preferred familiarity with CAD tools (SolidWorks or Solid Edge) will be an added advantage. Experience with Product Environmental Compliance (PEC) documentation, strong writing and editing skills tailored for a global audience, strong communication skills, and the ability to convey complex information clearly are essential. You should also have the ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical data and be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven. Preferred qualifications that set you apart include a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and a postgraduate Diploma in technical writing.
