Description
As a Technical Content Professional, you will create, develop, curate, and analyze technical content for digital self-service products. This includes technical documentation, UX content, and embedded assistance delivered in various formats. You will advocate for users during the engineering and design processes, ensuring content is easy to find, useful, and current. You will actively embed AI into our content workflows and our user experiences.Technical Content Professionals specialize in technical writing and product documentation, and may also demonstrate expertise in UX content, UI writing, embedded assistance, multimedia production, visual design, instructional design, and digital learning. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and engineers, to drive a cohesive end-to-end content experience that moves clients through their product journey. Attention to detail, insatiable curiosity, and a willingness to learn will be critical as you work in this rapidly evolving space in the industry.This is a hybrid role that requires a minimum of three days per week working onsite at our IBM Lab in Kochi, Kerala. 5+ years of experience. Content creation: Experience in designing, developing, and publishing IBM technical content that is easy to use, understand, and find. This includes technical documentation written in DITA, UI content, product tours, messages, API documentation, multimedia (videos, graphics), support content, chatbots, and training.
Content management: Proficiency in managing the end-to-end authoring process, including design, development, and editing.
Research: Strong research skills to gather data, analyze it, and extract insights for developing content strategies and meeting business needs through audience analysis, product research, and competitive analysis.
Writing, concept simplification, and AI: Use your writing skills to ensure clarity and adherence to IBM Style, making technical concepts understandable to the audience, using consistent terminology, and adapting content to user types. Experience with simplifying complex technical concepts from multiple sources into consumable content that drives user actions. Ensure the content is clear, inclusive, accessible, and translated for a global audience. Demonstrated outcomes and ability to learn how to infuse AI into content operations.
Markup languages: Strong markup language skills, such as DITA XML, Markdown, and HTML, along with authoring tools like Oxygen, to create structured and accessible content.
Design and embedded assistance: Apply design skills to create strategic and intelligent content that serves multiple purposes and enhances the user experience by taking a smart approach to content creation. Write embedded user assistance to guide users within the interface, providing helpful and context-specific information.
Research and design: Apply research and design skills to create content based on user scenarios and use casesunderstand personas, deliver content for design iterations, develop and clarify UI terms, actively contribute to design reviews, conduct user testing/research to validate content.
Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with Product Management, Design, Development, Support, Sales, Training, to tell a cohesive product story. Use expertise and user empathy to influence product design decisions to deliver the best user experiences we can for our clients.
Preferred technical and professional experience HCI design and design thinking: Experience with the principles of human-computer interaction (HCI) design to create intuitive and user-centered interfaces, including performing Usability / User testing. Experience in the application of Design Thinking principles to create user-centered documentation.
Documenting APIs and SDKs: previous experience or willingness to learn about how to use APIs and CLIs.
Agile: Experience working in an agile, squad-based, continuous-delivery development mode.
