Tax Manager 1 - State & Local Tax, Income & Franchise

As a state and local tax (SALT) specialist at RSM, your role will involve managing and overseeing the completion of state tax compliance for corporate entities. You will lead engagements by effectively managing the expectations of US leaders and identifying opportunities to expand the business by offering additional services to clients. Your responsibilities will also include managing a team of 10 to 15 associates, senior associates, and supervisors, as well as acting as a career advisor and mentor to provide timely project feedback and regular check-ins. You will collaborate with the overall tax team to review state tax returns, offer state tax consulting services, conduct research, resolve complex state and local tax issues, and review deliverables for clients. Key Responsibilities: - Lead engagements and manage expectations of US leaders - Oversee state tax compliance for corporate entities - Manage a team of 10 to 15 associates, senior associates, and supervisors - Identify opportunities to expand business by offering additional services - Act as a career advisor and mentor to associates and senior associates - Provide exceptional service to internal and external clients - Collaborate with the tax team to review state tax returns and offer consulting services - Conduct research, resolve complex tax issues, and review deliverables - Coach and develop associates, providing valuable feedback Qualifications: - Bachelors/Masters degree (preferably B.Com/M.Com/MBA Finance) - CPA or EA certification is required - 7+ years of experience in US State and Local taxes Corporate tax returns - Good written and verbal communication skills - Team handling and leadership skills - Ability to manage and drive multiple engagements - Excellent research and writing skills RSM offers a competitive benefits and compensation package, along with flexibility in your schedule to balance life's demands while serving clients.
