Systems Administrator

The System Administrator at American International University in Kuwait City is responsible for managing and maintaining the IT infrastructure to ensure high availability, security, and performance in both on-site and cloud-based environments. This role involves overseeing Windows and Linux systems, Active Directory (AD) management, hyper-converged infrastructure, data security, and backup solutions. Collaboration with internal teams and external vendors is essential to ensure the smooth operation of mission-critical systems. Key Responsibilities include: - Monitoring and managing the day-to-day operations of AIU Servers & computers - Administering Dell VxRail Hyper converged AIU Infrastructure - Managing Azure cloud infrastructure and optimizing performance - Administering Linux-based systems such as the AIU Library system - Overseeing Test Center, Students Center VDI systems - Leading troubleshooting efforts and problem-solving activities - Supporting the administrative tasks of Banner system and oracle appliance - Establishing guidelines for the installation and management of host computer operating systems - Ensuring high availability and performance of host computer resources - Developing security procedures to protect systems from unauthorized use - Creating backup and restoration procedures for host operating systems - Managing the AIU data center and computer host systems Skills required: - Proven experience as a System Administrator or Network Administrator - Proficiency in on-site and cloud-based infrastructure administration - Hands-on experience with hyper-converged infrastructure, preferably Dell VxRail - Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and user access management - Experience with Single Sign-On solutions - Expertise in data security, intrusion detection systems, and backup/recovery strategies - Proficiency in Windows Server administration and Linux environments - Familiarity with network protocols, LAN/WAN management, and firewall configurations - Experience in managing enterprise applications like Banner and Oracle databases is advantageous Education and Certifications: - Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field - Professional certification such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) is a plus For more information about American International University, please visit www.aiu.edu.kw,
