Key Responsibilities

1. Database Administration & Maintenance

• Administer and manage

  Sybase

  ASE 15.x / 16.x

   and

  Sybase

  Replication Server

   in large enterprise environments.
• Perform routine DBA tasks such as health checks, reorgs, statistics updates, and space management.
• Execute database

  upgrades, migrations, and patching

   with minimal downtime (including weekend maintenance windows).

2. High Availability & Disaster Recovery

• Manage complex replication setups (Warm Standby, MSA) ensuring

  zero-data-loss

   replication.
• Conduct regular

  DR drills, failover testing

  , and ensure compliance with global banking standards.
• Configure and monitor

  Log Shipping

   and other HA/DR technologies.

3. Performance Tuning & Optimization

• Diagnose performance issues using tools like

  MDA tables, sp_sysmon

  , and query plans.
• Collaborate with developers to optimize

  T-SQL

  , stored procedures, and server configurations.
• Tune memory, cache, and I/O for high-throughput, low-latency applications.

4. Production Support & Automation

• Provide

  24/7 production support

   on a rotational basis.
• Troubleshoot high-severity incidents under strict SLAs.
• Automate daily DBA tasks using

  Shell Scripting (Ksh/Bash), Perl, or Python

  .

5. Security & Compliance

• Implement security controls, role management, and auditing.
• Ensure compliance with

  SOX, PCI-DSS

  , and financial regulatory requirements.

Required QualificationsEducation

• B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Experience

• 5+ years

   of core experience with Sybase ASE on Linux/Unix platforms.
• Strong experience with

  Sybase

  Replication Server

   setup and troubleshooting.

Technical Skills

• Deep expertise in

  Sybase

  ASE architecture and internals

  .
• Strong Unix/Linux command-line and scripting experience.
• Experience in financial domain (Investment Banking, Capital Markets) preferred.
• Knowledge of

  Sybase

  IQ

   is a plus.
