Surgical Oncology Consultant

II. JOB PURPOSE

To provide & ensure direct or indirect accurate medical attention to all patients, ensuring service excellence & clinical care and supporting in other administrative activities.

III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To provide comprehensive care to patients admitted under your care.
2. Be responsible for diagnosis and treatment of all the patients admitted under your care and be available to examine and consult / advise on any particular case, if requested by a colleague.
3. Visit all the patients admitted under your care and plan their line of treatment as per the clinical requirements and standards of medical care.
4. Ensure that the team members and the nurses understand the line of treatment and implement the care of patient as per the treatment plan 
5. Ensure that the lapses in the implementation of treatment plan are reported appropriately and effectively
6. Provide adequate time to the patient / surrogate decision makers while counselling about the disease process and the treatment plan.
7. Ensure that the patient / surrogate decision maker has understood the treatment plan and there is agreement for the treatment planned.
8. Ensure that the process of clinical diagnosis and further treatment is adequately documented and is transparent in nature.
9. Adhere to the best standards of treatment while following a compassionate and affordable path of treatment. 
10. Provide the patient or the surrogate decision maker an approximate estimate of days and financial impact honestly and to the best of ones abilities.
11. Invite or give reference to specialist of appropriate specialty as and when required. 
12. Refer the patient to another specialty if the clinical condition of the patient demands so.
13. To help in developing and implementing the training programs for various activities towards building trainings & academics for the specialities.
14. Be a part of the teaching faculty as and when required.
15. Take responsibility of the appropriate care and usage of all special equipment that are used by you and notify promptly to the Medical Administration in case of any deficiencies
16. Enrol for medical research or publish suitable medical articles after prior approval. 
17. Be available for all emergency calls and operations, when required.
18. Participate in accreditation process of the hospital 
19. Involve yourself in brand building & development of the specialities including continuous quality improvement of your department.
20. Any other professional and administrative duties delegated as and when required.

Administrative:-

1. Primary role is to contribute to the development of the department along with the existing team, administration and other clinical team to build and strengthen the department.
2. To achieve medical excellence resulting in high level of outcome, patient care and satisfaction.
3. To support for the team management, training & development of staff, delivering scientific talks and carrying out outreach OPDs (international & domestic).
4. To extent support towards improvement of processes and increasing efficiencies in the areas of direct involvement.

V. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

• MBBS; MS/ DNB;FNB/ DNB/ MCh (Optional)

Experience

6-8+ years (post Super specialization degree) of relevant experience in a renowned Hospital. 

Preferably have worked in a capacity of department lead.
