Position Purpose:
This position is a Functional Project Manager in the area of Sourcing. The Functional Project Manager is accountable for the planning, directing, and execution of local and/or global projects. The Functional Project Manager is responsible to direct the project team to achieve project deliverables including contractual and business objectives while ensuring satisfaction and QDRC.
Essential Functions:
- Tactical Responsibility: Coordinate/lead multiple projects of med-high complexity, multiple sub-projects, and/or cross location
- Strategic Responsibility: Presents and represents project status to customer and Woodward managers
- Strategic Responsibility: Participates in enterprise trade-offs between projects
- Strategic Responsibility: Provide mentoring and consultation to lower level project managers
- Strategic Responsibility: Participate in strategic planning/profit planning processes
- Strategic Responsibility: Accountable for scope change management: responsible to orchestrate with the accountable leaders and team to be responsive to customers, project schedule, and deliverables
- Strategic Responsibility: Evaluate and implement continuous improvement. May include authoring documents and standards
- Tactical Responsibility: Lead and present project updates for management reviews, provide written updates, and status reports
- Tactical Responsibility: Drives risk management process
- Tactical Responsibility: Drives schedule performance to meet commitment dates
- Tactical Responsibility: Plans, reviews, and improves project cost
- Tactical Responsibility: Drives total cost of ownership processes
- Tactical Responsibility: Project resource management
- Tactical Responsibility: Manages across business and departments outside of specific functional area to break down barriers that may prevent project success
- Strategic Responsibility: Coordinates project activity with appropriate leaders, team members, and customers
Other Essential Functions:
- Evaluate and drive implementation and maintenance of appropriate project management tools
- May also provide support in other business activities
- In Sourcing, may perform: Coordinates with Supplier Manager to act as the primary point of contact for the project

- In Sourcing, may perform: Assure supplier development, inventory transition planning, contractual alignment (PO's and LTA)
- In Sourcing, may perform: Leverage all Global Sourcing groups to minimize total investment
- In Sourcing, may perform: Participate in commodity strategy development
- In Sourcing, may perform: Collaborate with engineering and the COE to assure security of supply, high quality, competitively priced components
- In Sourcing, may perform: Lead project gate reviews
- In Sourcing, may perform: Provide support and assist in supplier approval process
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Good knowledge of project management tools (specifically MS Project, Work Breakdown Structure).
- Proficient understanding of Woodward's Key business processes and metrics
- In Sourcing: Good knowledge and demonstrated execution of the part transition process
- In Sourcing: Good knowledge of strategic sourcing principles, supplier relationship management, and commercial management
- In Sourcing: Knowledge and experience with core global sourcing business processes and systems
Education:
- US Master's degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS)
- US Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS)
Experience:
- Experience in specific functional area (Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing)
- Project Management
License & Certifications:
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or international equivalent
- For Manufacturing/Sourcing: Six Sigma Green Belt certification
- For Quality: Achieve and maintain Six Sigma Green Belt certification
