Job Description

As a Team Lead - Mechanical within the Global MCAD CoE department at our organization, you will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to a team of engineers. Your main duties will involve overseeing design engineering support for New Product Development (NPD), Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE), and improvement projects. It will be crucial for you to ensure alignment with global engineering standards and practices. Your role will require you to develop comprehensive project plans for New Product Introduction (NPI) and improvement initiatives. You will be managing resources, timelines, and deliverables, while leading the team in executing various design projects from concept to production. Quality in CAD modeling (using Creo & SolidWorks), Bills of Materials (BOM), and Change Orders will be a key focus area for you. Mentoring and developing team members will be an essential aspect of your job, as you will be fostering technical growth and autonomy within the team. Ensuring that the team acquires and assimilates product knowledge effectively for project execution will be part of your responsibilities. Furthermore, you will oversee the design and development of parts and assemblies, ensuring the delivery of comprehensive design packages that include 3D models, assemblies, drawings, and BOM structures. Effective communication between cross-functional teams across global locations will be facilitated by you, along with leading regular project reviews with internal and external stakeholders. Representing the engineering team in customer and internal review meetings will also fall under your purview. Leading the estimation of project timelines & resources and driving continuous improvement within the team will be critical duties. You will also be responsible for overseeing and reporting on the team's performance, ensuring adherence to quality standards, timelines, and communication plans. Your required competencies for this role include a minimum Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a solid background in design and leadership within a relevant engineering environment. A significant hands-on experience with CAD software tools, particularly Creo and SolidWorks, and expertise in the sheet metal domain are essential. Additionally, experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools and strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. Your role may also involve taking on additional leadership duties as assigned by the organization, ensuring high levels of commitment and execution from the entire team.
