Structural Engineer

Position Purpose

To manage structural design and engineering activities during the bid and detailed engineering phases. This includes coordination with project, procurement, and engineering teams in India and Australia to ensure that plant designs are efficient, fit-for-purpose, cost-effective, and delivered on time in accordance with project specifications and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

1. Structural Engineering

• Guide designers in detailing of steel beams, columns, and other structural elements.
  
• Design and review connections (welded, bolted, riveted, moment, shear, splice, etc.).
  
• Detail bracings and trusses; determine column height based on L/r ratio.
  
• Analyze load transfer between primary and secondary members.
  
• Provide loading data for foundations using STAAD results.
  
• Review drawings (frames, pipe racks, pipe supports) from a structural perspective.
  
• Participate in drawing/data reviews from suppliers.
  
• Assign and guide engineers, designers, and drafters as needed.
  
• Resolve shop/site structural issues.
  
• Document structural analysis and support designs.
  
• Interpret third-party structural analysis and recommend changes where necessary.
  

2. Procurement & Vendor Coordination

• Expedite vendor inputs and assess third-party technical capabilities for design and analysis.
  

3. Bid Support

• Support proposal teams on all structural design-related activities.
  

4. Business Improvement

• Collaborate with Fabrication and Procurement teams to optimize structural designs.
  
• Contribute to the development of templates, guidelines, and standard documentation.
  
• Promote innovation and participate in lessons learned reviews.
  

5. Other Responsibilities

• Attend training and complete assigned e-learnings.
  
• Mentor and support new team members.
  
• Maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  

Candidate Requirements

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
  

Desirable Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree in Structural Engineering
  

Experience

• 8+ years in structural analysis using STAAD for structures like pipe racks, skid frames, supports (preferably in water/wastewater treatment plants)
  
• Proficient in structural analysis and 3D design software
  
• Familiar with IS, AISC, Australian, and other international design codes
  
• Experience with raw water treatment, DM plants, RO systems, recycle/reuse plants (preferred)
  

Technical Skills

• Proficient in software like STAAD, Advance Steel, Tekla, etc.
  
• Deep understanding of steel section types and behavior
  
• Ability to design efficient structural sections (box, pipe, channel, etc.)
  
• Familiar with seismic, wind, and snow loading as per global codes
