Role Objective

Will be responsible for setting up and managing the end-to-end plant stores operations, including receipt, storage, issuance, and tracking of raw materials (SS plates, beams, fasteners), bought-out items, consumables, welding materials, and project-specific materials. This role is critical to ensure real-time inventory accuracy, prevent stockouts, and support timely production with efficient inward and outward material flow.

Key Responsibilities

Stores Operations & Material Handling

• Set up and maintain a 5S-compliant store layout with clear zones for raw materials, consumables, scrap, and rejected items.
• Define and implement material identification systems (bin cards, tagging, heat numbers, and location marking).
• Supervise the inward and outward movement of SS plates, fasteners, consumables, and BOPs in coordination with QA and PPC.
• Ensure shelf-life-sensitive items (e.g., flux, gases, paint) are tracked and consumed within validity.

• Plan shift-wise manpower deployment and cross-training

  across store assistants and handlers.

• Support Production Coordinators in issuing tagged materials as per released jobs and the shift plan.

• Coordinate with material handling teams for safe EOT/forklift movement and stacking of large items.

Inventory Accuracy & Traceability

• Maintain updated, traceable stock records

  in ERP (SAP/MM or equivalent) — covering GRNs, issues, returns, and job-wise tagging.
• Align with PPC, Central PPC, and Nesting teams to ensure material availability as per job release sequence.
• Conduct daily cycle counts and monthly physical stock audits;

  reconcile system vs. physical stock

  and flag deviations.

• Track BOM vs. actual material issuance

  and

  flag excess consumption or loss trends

  to the Plant Head and Finance.
• Monitor stock health — avoid overstocking or material gaps that impact flow.

Escalation & Coordination

• Escalate material mismatches, excess withdrawals, unidentified stock, or tagging gaps

  to the Plant Head and Quality team.
• Liaise daily with QA, PPC, Purchase, and Production for flow-aligned inventory operations.
• Maintain documentation readiness for ISO, internal, or client/TPI inspections.

Responsibilities Outside the Scope of This Role

• Does not decide what job to release or sequence —

  supports PPC-released jobs only

• Does not fabricate or inspect material — ensures traceability, escalation, and clear flow.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Graduate in Inventory Management, Commerce, Logistics, or Industrial/Production Engineering

• Preferred:

  Certification in Stores or Materials Management (e.g., NIIT, IIMM)
• 6–10 years of experience in fabrication, engineering, or EPC stores; at least 2 years managing a team
• Experience handling stainless steel (SS) plates, consumables, and job-wise traceability
• Proficient in using SAP-MM and MS Excel.
• Familiar with shelf-life tracking of consumables and documentation for audits
• Strong understanding of material tagging, physical stock control, and inventory reporting
