Major key roles and responsibilities include:
➢ Transcribing: The primary responsibility is to transcribe spoken words into written
form using shorthand or stenographic machines.
➢ Accuracy: Ensuring a level of accuracy in transcribing proceedings, speeches, or
other spoken content is crucial.
➢ Speed: Stenographers need to have excellent typing skills and the ability to
transcribe quickly and efficiently (80-100 Words /Min)
➢ Confidentiality: Maintaining strict confidentiality and integrity while handling
sensitive or classified information is essential.
➢ Record Keeping: Organizing and maintaining records of transcriptions for future
reference and retrieval.
➢ Proofreading: Reviewing and editing transcriptions to ensure accuracy, grammar,
and punctuation.
➢ Communication: Collaborating with other professionals, such as lawyers, judges,
or meeting participants, to clarify any unclear or ambiguous content
