Job Description

As a Staff Frontend Engineer at Zendesk, you play a crucial role in building tools that support agents in assisting millions of people daily. Your focus is on developing the interface that facilitates meaningful human support interactions globally, ensuring that agents can solve problems efficiently and with minimal friction. **Key Responsibilities:** - Build customer-facing features in the Support product to empower agents in delivering better service - Modernize legacy UI using React, Redux, TypeScript, and GraphQL - Identify and address performance issues to enhance speed and reliability - Collaborate with fellow engineers to shape development workflows and enhance tooling - Share knowledge by documenting best practices, leading discussions, and supporting other engineers - Guide architectural decisions with a focus on long-term maintainability and performance - Identify opportunities to simplify complexity and improve developer experience across the platform **Qualifications Required:** - 7+ years of experience in building web applications in a frontend environment, preferably in SaaS - Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and frameworks like React and Redux - Strong understanding of browser behavior, JS event loop, async programming, and DOM interactions - Familiarity with testing practices from unit to end-to-end - Comfortable working in agile environments and adapting to changing priorities - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Ability and willingness to mentor others and collaborate effectively - Experience with Ember is a plus, though not mandatory - Contributions to open-source projects or technical documentation are advantageous Please note that Zendesk requires candidates to be physically located and willing to work from Karnataka or Maharashtra. The hybrid work model for this role entails a combination of onsite collaboration and remote work, offering a rich in-person experience at the office while providing flexibility for remote work.
