Staff Backend Engineer

Role Overview: At CleverTap, you will be a Staff Backend Engineer responsible for shaping the architecture, driving technical direction, and solving challenging engineering problems in distributed computing, data processing, and large-scale platform design. Key Responsibilities: - Work on high-impact projects involving innovation in areas like large-scale data retrieval, analytics, security, performance optimization, and fault-tolerant systems. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, QA, designers, and fellow engineers throughout the product lifecycle. - Tackle complex problems, make long-lasting architectural decisions, and drive technological advancement. Qualifications Required: Must have: - Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or possess equivalent practical experience. - Have 5-10 years of backend development experience, with a strong background in designing, developing, testing, and deploying large-scale applications using Java. - Demonstrate a solid grasp of data structures, object-oriented programming principles, and core Java concepts. - Exhibit strong organizational skills, time-management abilities, and effective prioritization skills. - Show a proven track record of meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality releases. Good to have: - Hands-on experience with MongoDB, Redis, and AWS. - Familiarity with frontend technologies like JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and frameworks such as Vue.js. Measures of Success: - Develop backend systems that scale reliably under high load, with clean, maintainable, and defect-free code meeting product and performance requirements. - Improve the overall codebase quality through best practices including thorough testing, high code coverage, and proactive technical debt reduction. - Quickly identify and resolve production issues, including complex challenges like memory leaks and performance bottlenecks, to ensure system stability and performance.
