1. Job Summary

The SS Tube Making Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining stainless steel tube/pipe forming and welding machines. The operator ensures smooth production, maintains quality standards, troubleshoots issues, and follows safety protocols to achieve daily production targets.

2. Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation

• Operate SS tube mill machines (forming, welding, sizing, cutting).
• Set up machine parameters such as roll gaps, welding current/voltage, line speed, and coolant flow.
• Load raw material coils onto the decoiler and ensure proper strip alignment.
• Adjust rolls and tooling for different tube sizes and thicknesses.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance on forming, welding, and cutting equipment.
• Identify issues such as misalignment, weld defects (undercut, burn-through, porosity), roll wear, and cutting inaccuracies.
• Coordinate with the maintenance team to resolve mechanical or electrical problems.

Production Management

• Monitor machine speed, output, and scrap levels.
• Follow production plan and achieve daily/weekly targets.
• Maintain accurate production logs and downtime records.

3. Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of SS tube mill operations (forming, TIG/HF welding, bead rolling, sizing).
• Understanding of metal properties and welding processes.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and machine setup sheets.
• Hands-on experience with calibration and measuring tools.

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.

4. Educational Requirements

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Fitter, Machinist, or related field (preferred).
• Experience in a stainless steel tube/pipe manufacturing plant is an advantage.
