Sr Manager of Software Engineering

As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase in the Consumer and Community Banking - Connected Commerce/Proprietary Wallets division, you will be tasked with leading and providing technical guidance to multiple teams of software engineers. Your role will involve offering coaching, oversight, and anticipating the needs of various functions within the organization. You will be responsible for directing and coaching a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers, overseeing their work on basic to moderately complex tasks. Additionally, you will offer technical guidance to support business objectives and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Your decisions will influence resource allocation, budget management, and the implementation of processes. Your contributions will include developing secure and high-quality production code, reviewing code from team members, and actively participating in the engineering community to promote the firm's frameworks and practices. You will also provide input to leadership on budget, technical considerations, and operational improvements for the team. The ideal candidate for this role should have formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, along with at least 5 years of applied experience. You should possess 2+ years of experience leading technologists in solving complex technical challenges. Strong leadership skills, the ability to guide teams towards strategic goals, and experience in hiring and developing talent are essential. Proficiency in Java/J2EE, REST APIs, Web Services, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and AWS Services is required. Additionally, expertise in agile methodologies, CI/CD practices, and developmental toolsets like GIT/BitBucket, JIRA, and Maven is necessary. Knowledge of technical disciplines such as cloud, artificial intelligence, and machine learning is preferred. Preferred qualifications include experience in people management, delivery management of Java Microservices applications on AWS or other public cloud platforms, and relevant certifications in Java programming or AWS technologies. Demonstrated capability in handling scrum teams and certifications like AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate are considered advantageous for this role.,
